The Tea Rooms

Nestled at the top of Crown Square, The Tea Rooms at Edinburgh Castle offer a stylish and elegant space to take tea.

Enjoy a delicious traditional afternoon tea complemented by a wide selection of luxury tea, coffee and juice drinks. Treat yourself to individually potted whole-leaf tea, dainty sandwiches, and delicate Castle-baked scones with homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream, topped off with handmade cakes from the castle bakery.

We also offer traditional Scottish food, prepared from the freshest local ingredients. Our menu ranges from light bites such as soup, toasted sandwiches and salads to more rich options, including our wonderful 28-day-aged Buccleuch Galloway Scottish beef or fresh Scottish Buckie crab.

Visitors with special dietary requirements are welcome. High chairs and baby-changing facilities are available. The Tea Rooms are open from 10:00 with last guests seated at 17:00 (summer season) or 16:00 (winter season).

The Tea Rooms are fully licensed and offer a selection of alcoholic beverages.

Redcoat Café

Inspired by the distinctive red coats of 18th-century Castle guards, the Redcoat Café offers something for everybody. Take the time to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views over the City of Edinburgh and across the Firth of Forth to Fife.

Whether you want a meal or a light snack, our chefs have created a seasonal menu including toasted deli sandwiches, soups and succulent roasts, with fresh vegetables. If you fancy food on the go, the Redcoat offers a 'grab and go' section, where you will find seeded baguettes, bloomer sandwiches and freshly made pasta and leaf salads. For children there is an Edinburgh Castle kids' box, which has been filled with a wide variety of healthy foods and fun treats.

With teas and coffees and a selection of castle-baked delights from our cake counter, you will be spoilt for choice. A selection of soft drinks, Castle-made fruit drinks and confectionery is also available.

Hot food is available 11:30-15:00. Visitors with special dietary requirements are welcome. High chairs and baby-changing facilities are available.
